Everything You Need to Know About Tongue Scrapers

Posted on 5/24/2021 by Tropic Dental
Everything You Need to Know About Tongue ScrapersA tongue scraper is basically a small, slightly-rounded tool that is made from either metal or plastic. Tongue scrapers are a fast and effective way to get rid of any extra particles that are lingering on the surface of your tongue.

Even though no amount of tongue scraping can replace the good ol' tooth brushing, it sure does offer many other benefits.

What Does a Tongue Scraper Help With?

Apart from getting rid of any unwanted particles from your tongue, a tongue scraper also helps get rid of bad breath. If you suffer from chronic bad breath or halitosis, a tongue scraper will take you a little further in your journey of getting rid of it. Even though this method isn't as effective as brushing your teeth daily, it is still quite beneficial.

How a Tongue Scraper Works

A tongue scraper is quite easy to use, and it doesn't hurt as well. You must simply hold the scraper at the back of your tongue, and bring it forward – to the tip of your tongue. This act gently scrapes off any debris from your tongue, making your mouth cleaner.

Even though tongue cleaners aren't a mandatory part of your oral health plan, including them in your oral health routine is completely harmless.
Rememberthat tongue scraping isn't a replacement for brushing your teeth, especially if you have halitosis. The best idea is to add tongue scraping to your dental hygiene routine, alongside brushing and flossing.

If you are looking for a solution to halitosis or any other dental problem or concern, call us at (239) 226-0023 where Dr. Nikola Goranov and will examine your oral health to get to the root of the problem, and then suggest an appropriate treatment that will eliminate your issue once and for all!
