What Teeth and Gums Get from Daily Multivitamin UseYou know that you need to take a multivitamin to help maintain your overall health. You probably also know that taking multivitamins helps many parts of your body to remain healthy and strong throughout your life. What you may not know is that taking a multivitamin also helps your teeth and gums to stay healthy and strong. Not sure what we are talking about? Here are some specific ways multivitamins can strengthen your oral health.

Which Vitamins Benefit My Teeth?

While there are a lot of vitamins that benefit your teeth, here are the vitamins included within a multivitamin that work to strengthen your teeth and gums.

One of the most important vitamins included in a multivitamin is calcium. Calcium is essential to build up and harden your enamel. It also works to strengthen your jawbone, which is more important the older you get. Along with calcium, you need to make sure your multivitamin contains vitamin D. Along with calcium, vitamin D helps harden your tooth enamel and helps strengthen your teeth and jawbone.

You also need to make sure your multivitamin contains potassium and magnesium. Potassium also helps keep your bones strong, and magnesium helps to prevent calcium leaching from your teeth.

Other Vitamins

Like magnesium, vitamin K helps the body retain bone and heal after procedures, so be sure that it is included in your multivitamin. Many people think that vitamin C is only necessary when you have the flu or a cold. However, vitamin C is really great for your gums. It helps your gums fight gum disease and strengthens the connections between your teeth and gums. Vitamin C also improves your blood flow, which keeps your gums healthy. Vitamin A also promotes healing and improves the function of saliva, which works to prevent tooth decay and gum disease.

Do you take a multivitamin every day? If not, do you have questions about it? We can help. Give us a call today and let us help you with your questions about your oral health and how vitamins can help you improve your oral health.
